Eco - Lonestar Adventure Race ™
03.08.08 Marble Falls, TX, (Start time is 7 a.m. for both races)
This race course is new this year on a private ranch that has never been used before for adventure racing. The course will be pure Texas Hill Country. What does that mean? Hilly, challenging, and fun! Don't be surprised if you see some real Texas critters running around (wild hog, rattlesnake, bobcats, coyotes, and panthers....just kidding about the panthers, but there is a canyon out there named "Panther Canyon". Your guess is as good as mine why they named it that. The race course is located 7 miles East of Marble Falls on FM 1431 at Boulder Creek Farms (See Directions Link). Bob Talamini is working with us to set this course, so all you extreme racers, fasten your seatbelts, the land we have to work with is beautiful, and the placement of the checkpoints will be a challenging reward when you arrive at the punch. Just a reminder, everyone should wear eye protection. There is a lot of cedar out there, and you will, at some point, find yourselves bushwacking through it. Please protect your eyes, and your body.
Eco-Lonestar (2-4 Hour Adventure Race): Teams of 2 members will mountain bike, trail run and have possible mystery events. All trails will be marked and teams will not have to navigate.
Eco-Lonestar Extreme (8-12 Hour Adventure Race): Teams of 3 members will mountain bike, trail run and paddle. Extreme Teams may use their own boats, paddles, and PFDs. However, we will provide inflatable Sevylor Kayaks to those teams in need of a boat. Extreme Teams will receive topo maps. The check points will be given in the form of UTM's or teams may copy marked maps but receive a time penalty.
Winning Extreme Coed team will receive $600.00 towards their teams entry fee into the 2008 USARA Adventure Race National Championship ($400 from Terra Firma Promotions & $200 from other sponsors). Top 3 Extreme Coed teams qualify for the 2008 USARA Adventure Race National Championships.
